Skald the Hall: March 3rd where we will Choose the second Bardic Champion and Premiere youth Champion of Myrgan Wood.
Spring Champions, May 13th where Arts and Sciences and Rapier Champions are chosen.
Anniversary, Thanksgiving weekend, where we choose our Armored and Missiles Champion.
Thank you all,
Fjall and Isabelle

Basic Bronze Sandcasting: (time required 4 hours depending on participation)
Time: March 4th
Location: The Ring Lord
Instructor: Maccabi Caiaphas, OWS
Greetings Myrgan Wood, I'll be bringing the basic bronze casting class to Myrgan Wood, Sunday, March 4th, the weekend of Skald the Hall, courtesy of Bernice Daniels, Jon Daniels, and Charity Olynyk. If you're interested in taking the class, then please inform me, and I'll confirm your spot. Thanks.
SIDE NOTE: If you have a flat or somewhat flat piece of jewelry or object you would like to have duplicated in bronze instead of doing a sword pommel, then please contact me to see if it's feasible.
This class shows the techniques necessary to do basic copper, bronze, silver, and gold sandcasting. The class focuses on each student producing one of two styles of sword pommels cast from bronze: either a 10th century longsword pommel (Norse) or a 16th century rapier pommel (excellent for balancing out a rapier that can be used in SCA rapier combat). However, the techniques shown can be used to produce other items as well. (contact the instructor if you would like to cast a different item to see if it is feasible) Techniques taught include high temperature casting, making suitable different compositions of bronzes for different projects, how to get clean casts without inclusions and defects, object duplication through casting, and basic casting safety.
